April 1796 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. OLDMAN Edenhall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. OLDMAN / Lazonby April 12th. 1796 Sir / I am near capt with the Drain at the foot of the Plough’d Land at Wellsteelfoot the Drain is cut just by the skirt of the Plough’d Land it effectually drains above and below about two yards but the grass Land (being so much lower) is only leavel with the bottom of the drain I think we are not low enough for about seven Roods (the rest will do well) I have agree’d with BOWERBANK to cut these seven Roods four feet depth for two pr. Rood more I think that will answer the end we have plenty of descent and will be cheaper nor a new drain your answer in writing will oblige your Hble Servt. [signed] Thos. RELPH
