24 Nov 1789. LETTER FROM KIRKOSWALD ABOUT NAILS AND WOOD. Bundle 62, Doc 43. 21 cm x 17.5 cm. Black seal obscuring part of sender’s location and corresponding hole and tear where it was torn open. John DIXON 24. Novr. 1789 – ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mr. OLDMAN Edenhall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ K. o[swd. ]Novr. 24th. 89 Sir The Bearer Ino. RAILTON is wanting some Nails for the Stable loft & Mangers – probably you’ll get them cheaper at Penrith than at this place ‘twill take 700~ – 15 a penny flooring nails with flat points / if they can be had / ¾ Do. of 10 a penny & ¾ Do. of five a penny for the Mangers with flat points & tool heads ––– they will want four posts for the Stalls the piece intended for that purpose was sawn from the sides of the Beams & has turnd. out so shaken ‘twill not Answer – I suppose / if it make no difference to you / they may be got at Baronwood from some pieces left there yr.
