05 Oct 1777. SOLICITOR’S LETTER ABOUT APPEAL AGAINST RATES. Bundle 62, Doc 10. 21 cm x 16 cm. Dirty on outside, crumpled corners, large hole at bottom (no writing missing), left edge crumbling and with hole and tears where seal was torn open. Mr. GRAHAM Attorney abt. Appeal to ye Sessions 5. Octr. 1777. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Sir / John ABBOT Surveyor of the Highways in Upperby Quarter in Saint Cuthberts Parish having made two Rates, the one for Repairing the Highways in the said Quarter and the other for purchasing Land for enlarging the Highways there & having rated John STORY Sir Philip MUSGRAVEs Farmer £ 1 . 13 . 4. to each for the Tyth he farms of him [fo]r that Quarter, I have caused STORY to appeal against both the Rates & I have retained Mr. MOUNSEY in the Business.
