08 Jan 1801. RECEIPT FOR LIQUOR AT WOOD SALE IN KIRKOSWALD. A neat and clean receipt. 2” x 6”. Pencilled note in later handwriting at bottom of receipt “THE GEORGE INN KIRKOSWALD”. According to a printed receipt for sale on eBay, Mary JEFFERSON was proprietor of the “George and Dragon” in Kirkoswald in 1805. Jany. 8th. 1801 Placed to Sir John C. MUSGRAVE Bart. acct. four pounds & seventeen Shillings for Liquor drank at Wood sale at Kirkoswald which was this day paid to Mary JEFFERSON by me [signed] Joseph BRISCO
